Service USB opener - Cash drawer opener

Service USB opener is a small box with USB connector that can emit a 24V pulse to open a cash drawer. Cash drawers supplied by our company contains this electronic device and there is no need to order it separately. Service USB opener is used if you have already a cash drawer from another company or to save transport costs (even more you live outside the European Union: buy drawer locally, buy opener from us)

Connectors

Service USB opener has an USB-B plug on one side and is powered by this. A maximum of 100mA is drawn, so that is can connected direct to a USB keyboard. On the other side there is a RJ12 jack which delivers a 24V high energy pulse upon software instruction to open the drawer.

Cash drawer plug

  • Pin 1 - not connected
  • Pin 2 - 24V Solenoid
  • Pin 3 - drawer contact
  • Pin 4 - 24V Solenoid
  • Pin 5 - not connected
  • Pin 6 - drawer contact

The pinout is identical to standard receipt printer outputs. All 24V drawers which work with Epson TM88 or Bixilon SRP350 receipt printers works also with Service USB opener.

 

Other usage

Though Service USB opener was originally designed for cash drawers, modular step relays can also be used with this.

Sample control methods are included and can also be downloaded. The driver and software are the same as that for Service USB.

To open the drawer the instruction „ServiceUSBsetOutputValue 1“ is executed, which will send a 24V pulse via RJ12 jack to the cash drawer.

Monitoring the status of the drawer (open/close) can be made with the instruction „ServiceUSBtestInputValueBit 7“
