Service USB drawer-s - Cash drawer with small depth

Abstract

Service USB drawer-s is the small version of the standard cash drawer for Macintosh. The banknotes are stacked vertically so that the drawer is a little bit higher and wider as a standard drawer, but the depth is as half as long. Because of the compact construction, the USB Electronic is not built inside but provided as separate small box.

Description

This black cash drawer consists of a small bottom box with a removable cash tray and is made for Macintosh with USB port. The energy to open the drawer is completely drawn from the USB. The USB current consumption is only 100mA so that the drawer could be connected directly to an USB-Keyboard if necessary.

The drawer is opened electromechanically by a solenoid. It can be also opened with a key. The Macintosh can poll the status of the drawer to find out either it is open or closed.

The bottom compartment contains a drawer with a removable cash tray and an insertion slot for cheques and other documents. In sum there are eight boxes for coins and five boxes for banknotes. A metal strip in one coin box is made to ease the opening of coin rolls.

Cheques and papers, inserted thru the insertion slot in the front are stored in an extra receptacle beneath the coin boxes and is only accessible by lifting out the cash tray.
