The concept of Trimension databases

The Trimension series is a concept making it possible to develop databases extremely quickly and flexibly according to your requirements.

Let us tailor your database to suit.

Together with you we will produce a tailor-made database application according to your special specifications. The applications so far of the Trimension series were developed in close co-operation with the later users.

Smaller applications are in general implemented the same working day and directly ready for use thanks to modem transfer. The basis of all developments is the database system 4th Dimension, the standard of relational database development systems on Apple Macintosh.

The common properties

Treatment of the data sets is always logically specified through the object-orientated concept. Just like in a normal work procedure, you first select the data sets and then determine the actions that are to be applied to the data sets.

Each module of the Trimension series has an identical, thoroughly structured user interface so that only short familiarisation times are necessary for new database components.

The modules of the application can be easily opened using the palette.

Each module of the application is represented by an icon on the palette and can be opened with a single click. As the palette is always open as the top window, more than one module of the application can be opened directly.

Integrated online help and balloon help can be inserted on request.

The standard database functions

The standard database functions such as New, Alter, Find, Sort, Delete etc. are available in every area with a button or menu item.

A wide range of print functions and generation of individual reports, adapted evaluations and specific statistics can be implemented.

As default all import and export functions of the data are included for all areas. Further import and export functions to all other programs can be implemented.

Comprehensive password protection on several levels is an important component of the security concept in the Trimension series. For example individual functions or modules can be made accessible only to individual users or "user groups".

The course of development

If the time window of the project permits, specifications should be compiled first. These specifications, usually 50-80 pages of extremely detailed descriptions, contain all definitions and functions of the database development in great detail.

On request a module or task can be included as a test programming. The specifications also contain a complete list of costs as well as details of the development and delivery time. The costs of the specifications are reimbursed if further orders are placed.

In order to be able to guarantee further development even without our company, you can on special request be given the entire source code of the development so that any other 4th Dimension development company can extend or maintain the programming.

Education Trimension is a complete administration of students, teachers and courses at an educational institution.

Any number of branches can be administered.

Media Trimension

Media Trimension is an application for the complete administration and invoicing of the daily newspaper business in an advertising agency. The following modules are included in the program and can be adapted to your requirements.

• Administration of customer publishing house and newspaper master data.
• Compilation of basic rates, special rates, prices for sections.
• Dividing up into areas according to branches including cost calculations.
• Creation of orders, items and placements.
• Printing of quotes (purchase and sales), orders and delivery notes.
• Copying of items taking into consideration possible dates of publishing and changed rates.
• Compilation of publishing house invoices.
• Settlement of accounts and generation of customer invoices.
• Data transfer to Datev and creation of bank diskettes.
• Transfer to order and branch statistics.

QM Trimension

• QM Trimension is an application for supporting quality assurance and quality management in production
• QM Trimension is an important building block for achieving certification of the company to DIN ISO 9000ff and consists of the following modules which can be adapted to your requirements:
• QM Trimension makes it possible to compile, process and evaluate failure, mode and effect analysis (FMEA).
• QM Trimension makes it possible to compile and administer product, system and process audits.
• Customer master data and supplier master data administration are integrated for linking to the individual modules.
• QM Trimension administers test means (e.g. dial gauges, protractors, external calliper gauges etc.), issuing and return of the same and testing and calibration at set intervals.
• The tests can be compiled and worked through according to VDI/VDE DGQ guidelines. All characteristics and instructions of a test can be stored in test plans.
• One module is used to compile material test reports and material test protocols.
• QM Trimension offers complete recording of complaints and objections according to comprehensive criteria. Hints on possible elimination of errors and evaluation of the same can be compiled just like links to the files of audit reports and FMEA.
• QM Trimension makes it possible to administer customer-specific tools for manufacturing. Technical drawings of products and working tools can be stored in this module which can then be printed as appendices to working cards.
• QM Trimension is completely multi-user and optimised for PowerPC. Alterations and adaptations to your requirements are possible at any time.
